I found an interesting article on “10 Ways To Stand Out And Develop A Unique Writing Style” (https://writersedit.com/fiction-writing/develop-unique-writing-style/). Interestingly, the author recommends that writers use their experiences as a springboard. That resonates with me because I use my background a lot. Almost all of my PhD papers were based on my background – I took ideas from previous assignments (in other programs), previous positions, and so on.
Your writing style is clearly important. The article “Tips for Finding Your Own Writing Style” (https://www.writersdigest.com/improve-my-writing/tips-for-finding-your-own-writing-style) argues that your writing style is your signature that differentiates your work from the work of others.
I believe I have an easy-to-read style. That is good, but I know it could be viewed as informal.
My father has a more “complex” writing style that is very good. Here is a note he wrote years ago….
“Yes, I was rudely awaked by the quality and taste of your food. Indeed I will be back and also bring a friend with me. Greatly impressed!”
It was a review of the food at Taco Bell. My father is very good at precis writing.
