  • Guyana

It is Guyana’s Independence Day! Guyana became independent from British rule on May 26, 1966. At that time, the country unveiled the new flag (the Golden Arrowhead), national anthem, and other official “national identity items” for the country. National songs, a new passport, and so on went into effect (my father tells me Guyanese citizens… Continue reading

  • Wealthy

I can’t believe a man in Guyana is so rich (see video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JdprbBFWUyc). He has love for his country. Continue reading

  • Food Festival

The food festival on Main Street in Georgetown seems very interesting. I saw a little of the festival in this video by C. Rahaman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BivXp5yacRA. The businesses in the video seemed to be small businesses rather than established food places. There were a lot more vendors than I expected. The food looked good! I did not… Continue reading

  • Trip to Georgetown

Earlier today I was in Georgetown to take care of some business. I got up early to get the bus (from Linden) to Georgetown. I did not expect to get there so quickly. The time in Georgetown went by very quickly as well. I was able to get the task completed and return to Linden… Continue reading

  • Cricket

Games lead to more tourists. Guyana is benefiting from cricket. I am curious about the country of origin of the tourists. Could it be that most of the tourists are from the Caribbean? Continue reading

  • Fruit

Good afternoon from Linden, Guyana! I have mangoes. Just recently, I had cherries picked from the tree. I also had papaw/papaya recently. I highly recommend the fruit in Guyana! Continue reading

  • Lots of rain; Kaieteur Falls

Over the last 3-4 weeks, we have had rain just about every day in Linden. In fact, it has been raining a lot all over the country. Because of the rain, Kaieteur Falls is back to the “fullness” it is known for – with lots and lots of water gushing towards the cliff and falling… Continue reading

  • Guyanese Treats

I am currently vacationing in Linden, Guyana and I enjoy lots of Guyanese treats. Some include: fresh coconut water, sugar cane, salara, tennis roll and cheese, cross buns, and black cake. These are all foods I enjoyed as a little girl in Guyana and are not quite the same or just not available in Maryland.… Continue reading

  • Origami

Good afternoon from Linden, Guyana! I am almost finished with a task I needed to complete. I am steadily making progress with my tasks. I am remembering the planes and boats I knew how to make from paper when I was a little girl. It was just something children learned to do. I recall that… Continue reading

  • Guyana’s Independence

The event celebrating Guyana’s Independence in Manhattan, New York was very interesting. I enjoyed watching the ceremony. I’m happy I caught it on Facebook. I was not aware of the event beforehand. I believe there will be a flag raising ceremony in Linden. My mother told me about decorations around town.  Continue reading

FEATURED

I am working to be published.

I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.

About THIS BLOG

I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.

I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. My main area of specialization is usability/user experience. Click on the ‘usability’ tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag.

I welcome comments. Submit your comments and feedback at any time. I prefer that you use Facebook for comments, but feel free to comment in any of the blogs or on Twitter.
