Inside Fahmeena Odetta's Head

Blog by Fahmeena Odetta Moore. I trust in Almighty God ("But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.")

Renowned Usability Expert

I admire Jakob Nielsen, renowned usability expert. He has been called:
“The guru of Web page usability” (The New York Times),
“The world’s leading expert on Web usability’ (U.S. News & World Report), and
“One of the world’s most influential designers” (Businessweek).

He holds a Ph.D. in human–computer interaction (HCI) from the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen and was actually a Sun Microsystems Distinguished Engineer.

I would like to follow in his footsteps.

This reminds me of a motivation capstone I prepared for my first NCU course. It needed to be something that would motivate me to work hard to complete (dedicate my energies towards completion of) the PhD – such as a poem or story. I decided on this:

FEATURED

I am working to be published.

I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.

About THIS BLOG

I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.

I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. My main area of specialization is usability/user experience. Click on the ‘usability’ tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag.

I welcome comments. Submit your comments and feedback at any time. I prefer that you use Facebook for comments, but feel free to comment in any of the blogs or on Twitter.
