Ginger Beer

I found a poem on Ginger Beer by Guyanese poet Dmitri Allicock. It inspired me to write a poem on the beer:

My background leads me to associate ginger beer with Christmas

In our household there was very strong ginger beer made from scratch at Christmastime

To enjoy with other food as a snack

The ginger beer was not alcoholic

But burned the mouth like pepper sauce.

I learned never to eat ginger beer with Guyanese black cake

For that combination leads to a lot of bathroom trips.

Now ginger beer is available as a carbonated beverage in stores

And the advertisements for the bottled ginger beer show the drink with black cake

The restriction to never eat with black cake no longer applies.

The commercial ginger beer is much weaker than homemade.

I am working to be published.

I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.

About THIS BLOG

I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.

I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. My main area of specialization is usability/user experience. Click on the ‘usability’ tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag.
