Inside Fahmeena Odetta's Head

Blog by Fahmeena Odetta Moore. I trust in Almighty God ("But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.")

Update

It is a cold, quiet Saturday (49 degrees Fahrenheit). Everything seems still. I will not be doing much today. I am currently enjoying some green tea. Maybe I’ll watch TV or watch a movie on YouTube.

Yesterday I found an interesting paper on happiness — The Secret to Happiness Lies Within You, Or Society – Or Both (https://www.ucdavis.edu/news/secret-happiness-lies-within-you-or-society-or-both) by A. Fell. A quote from the paper:

“‘But we all know people in our lives who experience traumatic events yet seem to be happy,’ Beck said. … This suggests a ‘top-down’ perspective, where happiness comes not from external circumstances, but from personal attitudes and qualities, implying that we can improve happiness by improving our mental states through practices such as mindfulness meditation or therapy, rather than by targeting external factors.”

FEATURED

I am working to be published.

I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.

About THIS BLOG

I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.

I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. My main area of specialization is usability/user experience. Click on the ‘usability’ tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag.

I welcome comments. Submit your comments and feedback at any time. I prefer that you use Facebook for comments, but feel free to comment in any of the blogs or on Twitter.
