Parks
Yesterday’s post on the use of parks for Fourth of July celebrations got me thinking about different parks I visited in the U.S. I am not a frequent park user/visitor but I have visited a lot of small recreational parks over the years. I was a part of quite a few outings/events at parks, including… Continue reading

July 4th
It is July 4th! In years past, I spent most of the day at a location (usually a park) good for watching fireworks. In the evening, from a good spot on the grass, I enjoyed the fireworks display. I did this when I lived in Maryland and also when I lived in Gainesville, FL. Here… Continue reading

The Topic Pain
The topic in the recent call for papers by the Journal of Business Research (“No Pain No Gain”: Understanding and Applications of Pain in Marketing Scholarship & Practice) is very interesting! Some of the questions papers can address include: (1) How do different types of pain (e.g., physical, psychological, mental or emotional) affect consumption? (2)… Continue reading

Abstracts
I usually write the abstract for my papers last. Sometimes, I am just not sure what to include and how to make it an interesting “elevator pitch” of my article. I definitely need more practice writing abstracts. I found a short but very informative journal article on writing abstracts. It includes information on the importance… Continue reading

Interesting Dream
I had an interesting dream last night. It was very strange. In the dream, I was in Linden but from the scenery (that included a large condo building by the ocean) seemed to be someplace else. What I saw did not match what I remember about Linden. The other events/details in the dream were strange… Continue reading

Phone Issue
My phone stopped working late yesterday. There was a popup message displayed on the screen that prevented me from doing anything else on the phone (everything seemed normal in the background). I was unable to enter my passcode to access the phone, answer calls or read text messages because of the popup message that I… Continue reading

Oldest Thing I Own That I Use Daily
I was unable to think of an answer to this question in five minutes. I thought about the answer for about 15 long minutes. My strategy was to think about things I use daily (or almost every day) and then think of the oldest. I thought of my vehicle, a 2004 Nissan. I drove it… Continue reading

Observations
A few things I noticed today while searching for and applying for jobs: (1) there are very few part-time positions, (2) a lot of the Senior Technical Writer/Manager positions require a security clearance, and (3) the list of disabilities (for disclosing a disability) has grown. I saw several interesting writing jobs (a lot of them… Continue reading

Paper Submitted For Publishing
Today, I submitted a paper to a journal for publishing. I was happy to start submitting papers for publishing again. It has been a few weeks! The paper I submitted today was inspired by a paper I prepared for one of my PhD classes. It is very similar to my PhD paper but includes new… Continue reading

Wall Art With Life Lessons
Today I found and reviewed wall art and posters that include life lessons. A lot of the wall art include only printed text on life lessons. Some included pictures or painted images. Some were inexpensive (between $10 and $20) while others cost $50 and more. I tried to explain why some of the art cost… Continue reading
FEATURED
I am working to be published.
I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.
About THIS BLOG
I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.
I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. My main area of specialization is usability/user experience. Click on the ‘usability’ tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag.
I welcome comments. Submit your comments and feedback at any time. I prefer that you use Facebook for comments, but feel free to comment in any of the blogs or on Twitter.
