Idea for a Talk, Speech
Give it everything. Give it your all. It is a tough world out there. You need to tame the tiger. Show them your power. She was vulnerable. She overcame. She survived. This talk is about Inner Drive, Overcoming Obstacles. I am in a position to talk intelligently about this. Continue reading

Update 8/12
The Prince George’s County police were at our house. My mother finally did something. I was at my computer when the police walked through the house. Related post: https://fahmeenaodetta.com/2023/01/27/weird-stuff/ Continue reading

Technology and survey?
I stumbled upon the technology consulting company Scantron (https://www.scantron.com/) that provides survey services (https://www.scantron.com/assessment-solutions/surveys/survey-development/). I did not expect to see this combination within a single company. Continue reading

Building work relationships
In my last corporate position (at GEICO), I worked from home full-time. I attended meetings, completed training, and had 1-on-1s with my manager from my computer/laptop at home. Meeting my co-workers and managers in-person was necessary to form working relationships. I don’t recall whose idea it was for us to meet at the office, but… Continue reading

Update 8/9
I expect a payment from Allstate (related to my car accident/totaled vehicle). I would really like to replace the vehicle, but I think I need to use the funds for other purposes. I am thinking of getting an apartment in Gainesville. Rent is much lower there. And, years ago, when I lived in Gainesville, I… Continue reading

Pain research
My PhD paper on how website design affects customer/consumer complaints touched on pain during shopping. That was surprising! I didn’t think of the paper when I saw the call for research on pain and posted about it (link to post: https://fahmeenaodetta.com/2023/06/30/the-topic-pain/). There really is a need for research in this area. Continue reading

Ice Cream
I felt like ice cream. Ice cream is good on a hot day. We had a lot of those (hot days) recently. When it is hot, an ice cream seems like the perfect choice – it is cold, flavorful, and enjoyable. The flavor/type of ice cream may not matter. I found an interesting article that… Continue reading

An Important Paper
In general, my signature assignments are the most important papers I prepared at NCU. But, there is one important paper that was not a signature assignment. That paper was on the design of an e-commerce website. It touched on usability and consumer decision-making. It was the final paper for a course just not called a… Continue reading
ABOUT ME
I am the author of a new and different poembook on a section of my life. In the next few months, I would like to publish more of my PhD papers as well as more lessons from my life.
I am on a break from PhD studies at National University, formerly Northcentral University (NCU). At NU, I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.
Author Bio:
For a long time, I worked in auditing, finance, and information technology. I excelled at financial reporting, analysis, modeling, and training. I wrote a lot at work. I wrote analysis reports, plans, and tons of emails to communicate issues and such. At some point, I decided to pursue a PhD to qualify for special teaching positions. One of my advantages was my multidisciplinary background, including experience in several areas, which I made work for me in my PhD papers. During a break from my PhD, I decided to write about my childhood using poetry. It turned out to be very successful.
About THIS BLOG
I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.
I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. Usability/user experience is one of my topics. Click on the ‘usability’ label/tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. I have new ideas you may be interested in. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag. If you are curious about my choices about God, click on the ‘WhyGodForever’ label.
I welcome comments. Submit your comments and feedback at any time. I prefer that you use Facebook for comments, but feel free to comment in any of the blogs or on Twitter.
