Downtown Areas
I stumbled upon an interesting article on developing downtowns. Here it is: https://www.bdcnetwork.com/investing-downtowns-pays-cities-regions?page=3 More economic/business activity should lead to more demand for office and manufacturing space, which should lead to more investment in downtown areas. In Guyana, Georgetown has the largest and most established downtown area (which makes sense as it is the capital). The downtown Continue reading

Update
I was temporarily offline because of phone problems. I also had other problems (since I came to Guyana) such as debit/credit card problems. I even had problems with the hotel room shower. I am at a particular hotel because my debit/credit card works there (I am not implying that there are usually problems at the Continue reading

Update
It is a nice day in Georgetown, Guyana. It is 86 degrees Fahrenheit. It would be nice to walk around Georgetown today (to get some jamoon and other fruits – I saw somewhere that jamoon is in season, purchase a cone from Dairy Queen, enjoy a cheese roll, and so on. I will “get out” Continue reading

Fun Things
It is Monday morning in Georgetown, Guyana! (Yes, I am away from the US – I am in Guyana, South America, the country of my birth). Guyana is a good place for a vacation. There is nice weather and lots to do. It is good place to “play.” I had fun times in Guyana. I Continue reading

Updates
Posted earlier in Facebook: It is a new morning in Georgetown, Guyana! I am up and feeling much better. Yesterday was rough. I was out most of the day dealing with issues connected with my debit/credit card. I tried to use my debit/credit card at 3 banks. I figured out that the five-digit pin for Continue reading

Water through outside pipes
In a lot of homes in Guyana, there are tanks for storing water for use in the home. The tanks may channel/run the water to the kitchen sink, bathroom, and so on, but it is different from the way water is made available through the faucet (“kitchen sink pipe”) or bathroom in the US. There Continue reading

Delivery in Georgetown
During the past week, in addition to nourishing home-cooked food, I had restaurant food from Fireside Chill and Grill. Today I had a small order delivered (some photos attached). The delivery was good but not as speedy as I hoped. Home delivery of restaurant food seems to be common around the world. Here is a Continue reading

Update 9/29
I am still “tying up loose ends” (taking care of business ) from Georgetown, Guyana. I am in contact with CVS Pharmacy about my medication. When I was in the US, the CVS on Annapolis Road in New Carrollton was “my” CVS. Maybe the medication could be transferred to a pharmacy in Georgetown. I will Continue reading
FEATURED
I am working to be published.
I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.
About THIS BLOG
I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.
I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. My main area of specialization is usability/user experience. Click on the ‘usability’ tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag.
I welcome comments. Submit your comments and feedback at any time. I prefer that you use Facebook for comments, but feel free to comment in any of the blogs or on Twitter.
