  • Going Out

Good morning from Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Guyana! It rained very early in the morning so it is much cooler. I am heading out. All signs indicate that it would be a busy day. I hope to get fruits. Here is a travel video I found: $10 challenge in Guyana. The guy in the video tries… Continue reading

  • Teachers

The United Nations reported on Twitter today that the world needs more teachers. Meanwhile… In Guyana, teachers continue their strike for better pay and more. I wish there were more/better statistics on the salaries of teachers as well as the salaries of other professions. I do not believe salaries are publicly available in Guyana like… Continue reading

  • Kukrit

I thought of the kukrit and just started writing… The kukrit is not considered as essential as the apple The fruit is also not substantial It is small and it is not filling as it does not provide a lot of stuff to eat Just like the awara. It is not to be ignored, however It… Continue reading

  • Mash 2024

Mashramani (Mash) is in full swing in Guyana!  As expected, the Costume and Float parade (the main event) is tomorrow, the 23rd. The Mashramani calendar also shows there will be a Literary Festival and a Mash horse race, among other Mash events. Those were surprises! The horse race reminds me of the Triple Crown races… Continue reading

  • Ginger Beer

I found a poem on Ginger Beer by Guyanese poet Dmitri Allicock. It inspired me to write a poem on the beer: My background leads me to associate ginger beer with Christmas In our household there was very strong ginger beer made from scratch at Christmastime To enjoy with other food as a snack The… Continue reading

  • Comment

A comment by my half-sister: Her comment impressed me. I did not know that she won an essay competition! I recall that we participated in mass games at the same time. She was a teacher. I was a student at President’s College. Interestingly, our aunt also participated in mass games that year. She was also… Continue reading

  • The Orange

The orange is special I have come to realize When I was little, I did not like oranges much My mother liked to put in quarters I ate it just because it was there The tangerine and grapefruit were similar and better options I could peel the tangerine easily And it was easy to halve… Continue reading

  • Changes due to the Internet

Gone are the days When students like me struggled to obtain details on countries, history, and so on for assignments The Voice Paris assignment for my French high school class is an example I needed details on the important places in Paris for the assignment I had much difficulty finding the needed material I did… Continue reading

  • Papaw

Working, working, working… My Papaw/Papaya Poem: I am unsure about whether the papaw is seasonal Like other fruits in the Caribbean such as the mango, jamoon, and awara In other words, it is not clear to me whether the trees produce a lot of the fruit at a certain time of the year It does… Continue reading

  • Laundry

Guyana and other Caribbean nations are lucky to have warm weather all year round It makes sense to take advantage of it especially when it comes to laundry And there is usually hanging of clothes on a clothesline for the sun and wind to dry Clothes hung neatly using pegs called clothes pins They dry… Continue reading

FEATURED

I am working to be published.

I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.

About THIS BLOG

I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.

I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. My main area of specialization is usability/user experience. Click on the ‘usability’ tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag.

I welcome comments. Submit your comments and feedback at any time. I prefer that you use Facebook for comments, but feel free to comment in any of the blogs or on Twitter.
