Everyone rushed by
Would I stop and appreciate a beautiful thing? That is what I asked myself as I read the piece on an experiment at a DC metro station. No one treated the world-class musician playing beautiful music in the metro station as he should be treated. A group of people gathering around him applauding as he Continue reading

Motivation
Good morning from Linden, Guyana! In a post on social media yesterday, Northcentral University (now National University) asked what song, album or playlist motivates me to complete tasks such as school assignments or projects. I was surprised by the post but decided to answer. I will preface providing one of my favorite motivation songs by Continue reading

Current Work
I am making progress with my poems. I just wrote on piano lessons in Linden. I remembered that the teacher taught piano lessons from his home. I decided to share what I have so far. Music – Draft by Fahmeena Odetta Moore —Music made a difference in my childhood I was into the songs we Continue reading

Being Merry
I recall there was a lot of music and singing in Guyana. “School children” sang patriotic/national songs in school. Neighbors sang along to music from the radio or from their “music system.” Everyone seemed to know “oldies.” Riders sang along to music in minibuses etc. I remember the music piece “PC Nights” that was based Continue reading

Dancing
In high school, I was “into” music (I was in the band, I was a member of a girl group called Lauren and the Shining Pearls etc.). I was not into dancing as much. I was not a member of the girl’s dance group and I did not dance much at parties. I did a Continue reading

Strategies To Increase Comfort In Daily Life
While taking a break from working on a paper for publishing, I decided to respond to today’s prompt in WordPress (link to responses to the prompt: https://wordpress.com/tag/dailyprompt-1994). What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life? I read this question and immediately thought of air conditioning. In the summer, air conditioning provides Continue reading

Recommendation Systems
I first learned of recommendation systems during my first literature review course at NCU. The topic was online reviews and recommender systems were one type of system connected with online reviews. I included some information in my paper on these systems that made recommendations to users. I thought they added a lot of value (were Continue reading

Thankful
I was a little sick over the last two days. I feel better now and am listening to music. The music reminds me of the hospital. When I was in the hospital, beautiful gospel music filled the air for a time. One of the songs was ‘Goodness of God’ by CeCe Winans. Just as CeCe Continue reading

Music Band
At both Watooka Day School and President’s College, I was a member of the band. At Watooka Day, joining the band was restricted to high performers. At President’s College, I became aware of the school band after a performance at an open floor talent show. The talent shows were open to any student. One night, Continue reading

Music
“Music moves me to laugh or sing or cry,Music moves me to reach right to the sky.Music can do what you want it to,No matter who you are,So keep on moving, moving, moving along,And someday soon you’ll be a star.” When I was a child, I had very good music teachers. Mr. Wyatt and Rosemary Continue reading
FEATURED
I am working to be published.
I completed 11 signature assignments – significant papers with original ideas. In one paper, I foresaw specific problems at a major company. In another, I designed a study (with statistical analyses) to explain why videos do not significantly enhance or improve online reviews. I worked alone. My signature assignments available at: https://fahmeenaodettasignaturepapers.tumblr.com.
About THIS BLOG
I created this blog to capture my thoughts and ideas and to practice writing. Why practice writing? I was on a break from my PhD and not writing much. I needed to continue writing regularly – I wrote and submitted weekly assignments/papers.
I also track my mental health using this blog.
I am currently working on publishing my papers in academic journals. Click the ‘paperforpublishing’ tag in the tags section below for my last status update. My main area of specialization is usability/user experience. Click on the ‘usability’ tag to view my posts, including ideas, on usability. If you are here for information on my success research, click on the ‘success’ tag. If you are here for information on my hometown, click on the ‘lindenguyana’ tag.
I welcome comments. Submit your comments and feedback at any time. I prefer that you use Facebook for comments, but feel free to comment in any of the blogs or on Twitter.
